𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐞𝐥𝐟? 𝐔𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐓𝐫𝐮𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲

The concept of the “Self” lies at the core of many spiritual and philosophical traditions. It is often described as the most fundamental aspect of our being, the true essence of who we are. However, the Self is not something we can easily grasp through our usual means of understanding, like thought, perception, or intellect. It transcends our physical, mental, and emotional experiences, yet it is ever-present and underlies all of them. In this chapter, we will explore what the Self is, how it differs from the ego or personality, and why understanding the Self is key to realizing true reality. The Self as Pure Consciousness At its essence, the Self is pure consciousness. It is the awareness that observes all experiences, but it is not limited by or attached to those experiences. It is the unchanging witness of all that arises in life—the thoughts, emotions, sensations, and perceptions we experience daily. To grasp this concept, think about a movie screen. The screen remains ...

Embracing the Spiritual Shift - From Expectation to Acceptance

In our fast-paced, goal-oriented world, it's easy to get caught up in a never-ending cycle of expectations. We expect success, happiness, love, and even the weather to align with our desires. We often forget that life is a mysterious journey, full of twists and turns that we can't always control. But what if we shifted our perspective from expecting to accepting? This profound shift can bring a sense of peace and spiritual fulfillment that many of us are seeking. The Expectation Trap Expectations, in themselves, are not inherently negative. They can motivate us to strive for excellence and work towards our goals. However, when we become overly attached to specific outcomes, we set ourselves up for disappointment and unnecessary suffering. We may find ourselves constantly striving for more, comparing our lives to others, and feeling discontented when reality doesn't match our expectations. In many spiritual traditions, this attachment to outcomes is seen as a so...

Cracks in the Mirror

We can fall into the delusion that the "outside" world is what creates our problems. But the truth is that the source of all our suffering is the ego, stemming from the games the ego plays. And what is it? It is the limited, isolated, illusory self, not seeing beyond its own nose. The inner saboteur keeping us locked in the "dark dungeons" of our own mind. The ego has a vital function. It is what, like a moving camera, shows us what is happening in the external world. Without it, we would have no awareness of things. As long as we have a physical body, we must have an ego. The problem is that it gets out of control. The ego should simply be like a courier delivering messages to our conscious mind. Instead, we allow it to open our letters, read them, and tell us how to respond. And not only that, but we also let it choose which letters to show us! We elevate the ego to a position for which it is incompetent. Our task is to understand our ego so we can ...

Alone

Alone in my captivity, lost in despair, I wander, dragging my garments in air. The weight of it all, crushing me down, In myself, time's stopped, in silence I drown. In timeless childhood, stolen breath by breath, In soulful fields, where I take flight in death. I soar and return, fueled by desire, In dreams awakened, here I lie, a crier. I've lost myself in my realm's dominion, In ceaseless seeking, my relentless opinion. Day and night blend in their passionless fight, For my smile to bring peaceful light. But peace in the burden, aching and sore, A sickness from war's loads, my being tore. Where did I lose myself, once content and calm? In heaven's embrace, I gave up my qualm. The birth of rain in love's tender spell, I hide from it, run and dwell. For it, I divide myself untroubled, In its magic, my heart's bubbles. The dawn of morning's feeling's here, I return, love, seeing me clear. I am her reflection, and she'll see me tomorrow, I move t...

But is there anyone to hear?

Little one, it follows its inner guide, But what fate awaits it, what will betide? Self-destruction... a sorrowful theme, Yet nature rebalances, it may seem. For her, no sadness, no right or wrong, She acts by her principles, steadfast and strong. If only we sensed them within our core, We wouldn't unleash what we deplore. Humanity, with its flawed understanding, Afflicts the planet, it's alarming. We kill ourselves, pollute our source, Yet nature simply reflects our course. Will we heed the symptoms she displays? Realize our interconnected ways? Recognize the need for responsibility, For everything is like the body's ability. The physical body, it has its bound, After showing symptoms, all around, If not treated, problems persist, And like the body, it ceases to exist. So too with Earth, the signs are clear, But is there anyone to hear?

Embracing Abundance: A New Year's Reflection

As the year draws to a close and the dawn of a new one approaches, we find ourselves at a crossroads - a moment to bid farewell to the old and embrace the new. It's a time for reflection, a time to let go of what no longer serves us and open our hearts to the possibilities that lie ahead. The New Year offers us a canvas on which we can paint our dreams, set new goals, and welcome positive changes into our lives. One powerful practice that encapsulates this sentiment is the art of letting go. Letting go isn't about forgetting or dismissing the past; rather, it's about releasing the grip of things that weigh us down, allowing us to move forward with a lighter spirit. It's about shedding the old to make room for the new, like a tree shedding its leaves to prepare for the blossoms of spring. As we express gratitude for the year gone by, we acknowledge the lessons it brought, the challenges we overcame, and the growth we experienced. Gratitude is a powerful for...

Embracing Humility - A Reflection on Self-Centering and the Symbolism of Snow White's Mirror

In the enchanting world of fairy tales, symbols often hold profound insights into the human psyche. One such symbol is the mirror in the timeless tale of Snow White, where the question echoes, "Mirror, Mirror, who is the most beautiful in the world?" Beyond the surface, this mirror serves as a captivating metaphor for the delicate balance between humility, self-focus, and the pitfalls of ego. Ego Interpretation: Feeding the Ego and Narcissism On one level, the mirror can be seen as a tool that feeds the ego, fostering a sense of narcissism. In this interpretation, the individual constantly seeks external validation, measuring their worth by the reflections of others. The trap lies in the illusion that true confidence can only be built upon the mirroring and approval received from others. Ego Interpretation: The Snare of Dependency Another facet of the ego interpretation emphasizes the need for external validation to establish one's value and confidence. How...
